YOUR STORY
IS YOURS.

At IMI Japan, we believe in taking that first step for yourself.

Discover the world through sport. Step into a new environment. Experience English and different cultures. Meet new people.

What you feel, what does not go well, and what you overcome.

All of it becomes a page in a life that is uniquely yours.

THAT'S WHY
IMI Japan EXISTS.

IMI Japan creates opportunities for children to begin a new page as the authors of their own lives.

It is about more than teaching sport or taking children overseas.

Through those experiences, we want children to feel, “I want to try,” “I want to know more,” and “Maybe I can do this.”

We want to create the moments when those feelings begin.

OUR STORY IS
STILL BEING
WRITTEN.

And this is not only about children.

My own book is still being written.

From Okinawa to the United States, baseball has brought me new connections and many challenges.

Things have not always gone well. But I am still taking on new challenges.

That is why I want IMI Japan to be a company where I keep challenging myself, alongside the children we encourage to do the same.

A message from Joichiro Oyama

I am still
finding my own way.

Joichiro OyamaIMI Japan FOUNDER

When I began life in the United States, I could not speak English well. There was so much I did not understand, and so much that did not go well. Still, I kept asking people, taking action, and trying.

Even now, I am still finding my own path and taking on new challenges. That is why there are things I want to share with children.

Life is not a path that has been decided for you. There are things you cannot know until you try. Some things only become clear after you fail. Taking one step can change your life. That is what happened to me.

Through baseball, I met so many people and had so many experiences that helped me discover more of what I could do.

Now, through IMI Japan, I want to give children that same chance to begin.

Even when you fail, try again. Find a path that is your own.

My journey is not over. I have not given up on playing in the United States. I will keep working toward a return to the minor leagues. Just like the children, I am reaching for experiences I have yet to discover.

The pages I write from here are up to me.

A single opportunity can change the future. I want to show that through my own life.
